Anniversary, Basic-H®!
This year marks
the 50th anniversary of Basic-H®, one of
the first non-toxic, biodegradable-surfactant cleaners in the
world. In honour of this milestone, bottles of Basic H2®
Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate – an updated and more
concentrated edition of Basic-H – features a commemorative 50th
anniversary seal for a limited time only. Basic H2,
the flagship product of the Get Clean® household
line, provides a super-safe, really powerful clean with
thousands of uses.
This
phosphate-free formula is also super concentrated, so it saves
money and helps reduce waste compared with ready-to-use
cleaners. In fact, the number of Basic H2 bottles
sold last year contained the same amount of clean as nearly
1.7 million bottles (26 oz./769 mL) of
conventional, ready-to-use window cleaner. That’s enough bottles
to wrap around the earth 11.4 times! Through
sales of Basic H2, combined with last year’s sales of
Get Clean Starter Kits, Shaklee saved 71 million pounds of
greenhouse gases and 31 million pounds of packaging waste.

Cleaner was a
breakthrough product when it was
formulated and launched in 1960. Its objective was to
provide the user a safe-for-you, safe-for-the planet
alternative to the phosphate-containing cleaners that
were polluting lakes and streams by
encouraging algae growth, which depleted oxygen in the
water and resulted in the death of marine life.
Since the 1960s, the ingredient choices used to make
cleaners, the way people clean, and the
composition and types of surfaces being cleaned have
all changed. Classic Basic-H was prone to
leave a residue, especially if not rinsed off. Today’s
users expect not to have to rinse, particularly on
modern slate, granite, and laminated flooring, or on
Corian
®-type
countertops.

Concentrate eliminates
this problem – and more. Using active
cleaning ingredients (surfactants) that are derived
from renewable plant-based resources (corn and
coconut) rather than non-renewable petroleum-based
resources, it offers the same great cleaning
power and versatility as classic Basic-H – with these
